Rhys Morris hosts company Christmas parties, festive awards nights and charity Christmas dinners across London, Essex and the UK. He is an event host, MC and compere, and the CEO and founder of TRM Flex. He takes the welcome, the running order and the awards or raffle, and keeps the room together from the doors opening to the final thank-you. December dates are decided in October, so send yours now.
- Welcome, speeches and running order held
- Awards, raffles and prize draws run cleanly
- Flat spots lifted and timings kept
- A festive song if the brief wants one
What a Christmas party host does
A Christmas party host runs the night from the front of the room. Rhys is not a DJ or a band. He holds the running order, welcomes the guests, introduces the speeches, runs the awards or the raffle, and lifts the room when the energy dips. The music, the food and the venue are booked separately. The host is the person who joins them up.
A company Christmas party has more structure than it looks. There is a welcome from the chief executive, a dinner service working to the kitchen’s clock, a round of thank-yous, often an awards round or a raffle for a chosen charity, and a hand-over to the evening’s entertainment. Every one of those joins is a place where a room can go flat. A good corporate Christmas party host makes each one feel planned, keeps the night on time and makes your organisation look good in front of its own people.
Rhys works to your brief and your tone. A professional services firm wants something different from a sales team at the end of a strong year, and a charity Christmas dinner needs warmth and a clear ask. Call the role a Christmas party MC, a Christmas party compere or a host. The job is the same, and the compere and MC page sets out how Rhys approaches it.
Christmas events Rhys hosts
- Company Christmas parties
- End-of-year and festive awards nights
- Charity Christmas dinners and balls
- Sports club Christmas dinners
- Client hospitality evenings
- Staff recognition and long-service presentations
If you need a host for a company Christmas party, Rhys works as your corporate MC. He gives the welcome, sets up the leadership speech properly, handles the thank-yous and hands over cleanly to the entertainment. As a Christmas awards host he runs the categories, the sponsor moments and the winners, just as he does as an awards host the rest of the year, so the last award of the night lands as well as the first.
Charity Christmas dinners and balls need a host who protects the giving. Rhys tells the cause simply, runs the raffle or pledge moment, and works alongside your auctioneer when there is one. He does not run the live auction himself. The charity dinner host page explains how that works on the night.
Rugby, football, cricket and golf clubs book a sports dinner host for their Christmas dinner, often with a guest player interview, club presentations and a raffle. Client hospitality evenings are quieter but no less important. The host welcomes guests on behalf of the business, keeps the formal part short and lets the conversation do the work.
How Rhys prepares a Christmas night
Christmas events are short on rehearsal time and long on moving parts. Rhys joins a briefing call, learns who is in the room and agrees the running order with your event manager or the venue team. He checks names and pronunciations, award categories, sponsor mentions and raffle prizes, and writes host links in your organisation’s voice rather than a generic script.
On the night he arrives early, checks microphones with the AV team and stays close to whoever is running the event, so timings can move with the kitchen without guests noticing. His background helps here. Rhys started in venues, booking bands, running festivals and delivering events, and is now CEO and founder of the event operations platform TRM Flex. He knows what is happening behind the scenes when a speech overruns or a video will not play, and he fills the gap calmly.
A host who can also sing
Some Christmas briefs want a live vocal moment. Rhys is a trained bass-baritone and a Cardiff University music graduate, and he can add one or two festive numbers to a hosting booking. That might be a carol to open a charity dinner or a song to close the formal part of the evening. It is a moment inside the hosting, not a set, and it only happens if the brief wants it. The singer and live performer page covers his training and stage record.
London and Essex Christmas venues
Rhys is based in Essex, close to London, and hosts Christmas events across the UK. In London and the south east the season tends to run through a familiar set of rooms: hotel ballrooms in the West End, City venues for professional services firms, the large halls at ExCeL for big company parties, and Essex country houses for awards nights and charity balls.
Each room asks something different of the host. A ballroom of several hundred guests needs pace, a clear voice and firm control of the timings. A country house dinner for sixty needs a lighter touch and more conversation. Rhys adapts to the room in front of him. For more on each area, see event host in London and event host in Essex. Travel and expenses are charged in addition to the fee and quoted up front.
Christmas is decided in October
December dates are booked earlier than most organisers expect. Venues usually go first, often by the summer. Entertainment and production follow. The host is often the last line on the checklist, and by the time it is ticked the Thursdays and Fridays in December have gone. Rhys sets out the full argument in when to book a Christmas event host.
The practical answer is to book the host when you book the venue, because both are tied to the date. The running order does not need to be ready. It rarely is in October. Send the date, the rough size of the room and what the night is for. Rhys replies within one working day with availability and a guide fee, and the guide fees are published if you want a number now. If your date is already close, ask about midweek availability.
● Why clients book Rhys
● In their words
“Rhys is brilliant, he brings so much fun to the event.”
“He brings quite a big energy to it even when we’re not doing very well.”
● Frequently asked
How much does a Christmas party host cost?
Guide fees for a Christmas party host start from £1,500 for a half-day corporate MC booking and £2,500 for a full day. Awards nights start from £2,750. Every event is quoted individually on the date, the format and the preparation involved. Travel and expenses are charged in addition, and no VAT is added. See the guide fees, or send your date for a quote.
When should I book a Christmas party host?
Ideally at the same time as the venue, and no later than the end of October. As Rhys puts it, “Christmas is decided in October. If your host is not booked by then, you are choosing from who is left.” December Thursdays and Fridays go first. If your date is already close, ask about midweek availability. Read why Christmas is decided in October.
Can Rhys run the awards or the raffle?
Yes. Rhys can run the whole awards round, from category introductions and sponsor thanks to bringing winners up and off the stage on time. He runs raffles and prize draws quickly and with good humour. At the WRU Official Members Club the raffle became a tradition in its own right. On a charity night with a live auction he works alongside your auctioneer and does not run the auction himself.
Does Rhys travel for Christmas events?
Yes. Rhys is based in Essex, close to London, and hosts Christmas events across the UK. Travel and expenses are charged in addition to the fee and quoted up front.
Can Rhys sing at our Christmas party?
Yes, if the brief wants it. Rhys is a trained bass-baritone and a Cardiff University music graduate. He can add one or two festive numbers to a hosting booking, which gives the night a live vocal moment without booking a separate act. He is still the host, not the band. See the singer page for his training.
